ITU WORLDS 2008 - VANCOUVER

The 2008 ITU Olympic Distance Triathlon World Championships will be held in Stanley Park, Vancouver on June 7 and 8. Vancouver is a beautiful city, ranked as one of the best cities to live in around the world. From the natural beauty of Stanley Park and English Bay to the excitement of the West End, some say that Vancouver must have been made with triathlon in mind.

Triathlon Australia (TA) will be taking approximately 200 of Australia’s best age-group athletes to Vancouver to represent Australia at the World Championships.

Tri Travel has again been appointed the official Travel Agent and has secured bookings at four apartments/hotels to cater for the team.

As June is the busiest month for tourism in Vancouver, it is strongly advised to book your accommodation and flights as soon as the team is announced, particularly if you plan to do any extended tours of Canada and Alaska or parts of USA.

TA and Tri Travel have secured three properties, (very close to Stanley Park), that provide self contained apartments including studios, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. Enough accommodation has been obtained to support all team members, allowing them the opportunity to cook their own meals.

The Best Western Sands Hotel has also been obtained and will be used for team facilities such as massage, bike mechanics and the team information desk. The Best Western Sands Hotel is in a great location and was much sort after by other teams. However, as the team survey suggested that self contained apartments were preferable, the price and lack of cooking facilities meant that only a limited number of rooms have been booked for the Australian Team athletes at this hotel.
